2.1 To explore the relationship between molecular structures and spectroscopic properties and structural pathway of a range of distorted four-, five-, and six-coordinate mononuclear copper(II) complexes with the flexible didentate dpyam ligand, based on Jahn-Teller and plasticity effects.
2.2 To investigate the fluxional behaviour in the six-coordinate cis-distorted octahedral [Cu(II)(dpyam)2(ONO)]X complexes.
2.3 To attempt the preparation of polynuclear Cu(II) complexes with different bridging ligands.
2.4 To investigate the relationship between molecular structures and magnetic properties and superexchange pathways in polynuclear Cu(II) complexes containing different bridging ligands.
