1. To synthesize a series of metal-organic frameworks containing transition metals and/or lanthanides, various commercial and synthetic O-donors based ligands and N-donor organic linkers in single-crystal and single phase bulk samples in order to fine tune and search for their functionalities.
2. To determine and analyze the crystal structures and supramolecular assemblies by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The influence of the linkers, temperature and mole ratio of substrates on the overall solid-state structure of metal organic frameworks will be studied.
3. To investigate the catalytic properties of some MOFs upon epoxidation reaction and cyanosilylation of aldehydes.
4. To study photocatalytic properties of some MOFs as novel heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of organic dyes.
5 To study optical sensing properties of some MOFs toward metal ions, anions and/or small organic molecules.
