Functionalization of Shrimp Virus-like Nanoparticles through Chemical and Genetic Engineering for Developing Cell-Specific Delivery System and Advanced Imaging Trackers
Generally, we aim to combine the knowledge of VLP atomic structures with VLP functionalization modification technology, both chemically and genetically, in order to enhance cargo encapsulation and specific cell targeting. The specific aims of this research proposal can be divided into 4 aspects as follows:
Aim 1: Investigating the foci at the atomic resolution on MrNV & IHHNV capsids that are
significant for viral-host interaction exteriorly and DNA/RNA anchorage interiorly
Aim 2: Enhancing cargo encapsulation into the capsid interior through inner surface capsid
modification or RNA stem loop conjugation
Aim 3: Directing cell-specific recognition of the nano-containers through modifying capsid
exterior with short-peptide ligands, aptamers or reactive functional molecules
Aim 4: Delivering active compounds loading into nano-containers towards cultured insect cells
and shrimp tissues as well as several cancer cell lines.
