The goal of the project is to identify and clone the gene(s) responsible for starch content, yield and cyanide content in cassava by a positional cloning approach. The objectives of the project are
1. To identify markers linked to agronomically important traits of cassava such as starch content, yield and cyanide content.
2. To define the smallest genomic candidate region or fine map for most reliable QTL controlling starch content, yield and cyanide content in cassava that are previously identified.
3. To identify genes within the regions which are candidate genes for the traits of interest.
