A program of our research was decided to carry out isolation and structural modifications of natural iridoid glycoside obtained from Citharexylum spinosum flowers for evaluation of bioactivities. Two distinct areas of research activities were identified for the biological evaluations of natural and structurally modified iridoid glycosides. The first one was concerned with cytotoxic activities while the second one was concerned with other interesting biological activities for example immune responses and antihypertensive effects in the hope of finding lead for bioactive compounds. This project will collaborate with Chinese researcher to help and exchange for knowledge and skill on the synthesis works
