วัตถุประสงค์
:
This research project focuses on risk and vulnerability reduction in the self-managed housings which addresses on low-income communities from different angles. The key objectives of this study are as follows:
1. To assess the parameter of risks and vulnerabilities that the low-income settlements are facing in regard to physical, social and economic aspects.
2. To study how housing programme, particularly Baan Mankong, is driven by the authorities to tackle the risks and vulnerabilities reduction within informal settlements.
3. To investigate the ways that low-income individuals use their creativity, experience and knowledge to cope with hazards by examining their self-managed housings in both informal and upgraded communities.
4. To explore ways in which low-income organisations and networks collectively employ their social capital to decrease risks and vulnerabilities.
5. To provide the design guideline for the low income housing that is derived from the knowledge of its residents.
