วัตถุประสงค์
:
Objective 1:
To synthesize novel anthraquinone, and anthracene-based chemosensors functionalized with bis(2-pyridiylmethyl)amine, bis((1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)methyl)-amine and bis((1H-benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)methyl)amine and fully characterize all synthetic products with various spectroscopic techniques e.g. 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy, 2D-NMR, IR, mass spectrometry (high resolution, and/or MALDI-TOF), and elemental analyses.
Objective 2:
To perform the complexation investigations of new synthetic sensors with some alkali metal ion (Li+, Na+, K+), alkaline earth metal ion (Mg2+, Ca2+), and divalent transition metal ions (Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) in organic and/or aqueous solution(s) and then subsequently study the anion sensing ability of the most suitable metal-chemosensor complexes toward pyrophosphate (PPi) and other biologically important phosphorylated anions e.g. phosphate and its derivatives, ATP, etc. by 1H-NMR spectroscopy, UV-visible, and fluorescence spectrophotometry. The stability constants of all complexes will be intensively determined.
Objective 3:
To observe and evaluate the possibility of producing analytical test strips embedded with the new chemosensors for the real-time detection of pyrophosphate and other biologically essential phosphorous-containing anions in vitro or in physiological media.
