The proposed project is aimed to achieve the following tasks:
1. Generation of relevant mutants of Bps porin. BLM measurements with both the native and mutated Bps porin.
2. Thorough analysis of the outcome of BLM measurements and examination of the effects of point mutations on the functional characteristics of Bps porin in terms of e.g. the permeability for relevant ions, and antibiotics.
3. Investigation of the important residues that are responsible for the molecular uptake through Bps channel.
4. Development of functional porin assays for further identification of potential drug molecules through high-throughput screening approach.
