วัตถุประสงค์
:
2.1. Establishment of the chemical synthesis of peptide laboratory at Department of Chemical Biology, Chulabhorn Graduate Institute
2.1.1. To develop Thailand's capability to design, synthesize, and purify peptides-allowing Thailand to be self-sufficient in peptide research and allowing Thailand a wider use of peptides as tools for chemical biology.
2.1.2. To train graduate students and post-doctoral fellows on the chemistry of peptides and proteins
2.1.3. To serve as a collaborating center for other research groups in Thailand
2.2. Anti-malarial peptides project
2.2.1. To chemically synthesize anti-malarial peptides, Psalmopeotoxin I and II, both native and relevant mutations that can improve their stability and efficacy
2.2.2. To study biophysical characteristics (i.e. folding and stability) of Psalmopeotoxin I and II in order to aid future design of their mutations
2.3. Self-assembled peptides as drug scaffolds project
2.3.1. To design and synthesize peptides that can self-assemble into nanostructures such as fibrils or tubes. These peptides may be de novo amphiphilic peptides or mimics of naturally occurring peptides.
2.3.2. To study morphologies of the peptides, conditions in which the peptides can assemble, and the stability of the self-assembled peptides
2.3.3. To explore conjugation methods between the self-assembled peptides and the small molecule drug candidates.
