วัตถุประสงค์
:
1. To evaluate the feasibility of using free fetal DNA in maternal plasma for the prenatal diagnosis in the pregnancies at risk for having homozygous alpha-thalassemia-1 fetuses
2. To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of prenatal diagnosis of alpha-thalassemia-1 gene from fetal DNA in maternal plasma using real-time PCR
3. To investigate whether the quantity of PCR product can be used to distinguish between normal, heterozygous and homozygous state of the fetuses
