Study current problems of Thailands vernacular built environment:
The research aims to understand, analyze and categorize different problems specific to purposively selected vernacular built environment within different regions of the country. These problems include environmental effects caused byman as well as the transformation of our natural environment.
Involve local people:
The research aims to both gather knowledge from and distribute knowledge to local people within different regions. The process of people participation is not only to facilitate the outcome of the research but is aimed to benefit both the local people and local authorities and create awareness for adaptive dwelling within future environmental circumstances.
Propose possible solutions for adaptive vernacular environment:
The goal of this research is also to integrate knowledge from problem study and the people participation, in order to propose various possibilities for building and rebuilding vernacular environment, ie houses and communities that will be able to adapt and withstand future environmental changes. Not only the vernacular living and building situations will be taken into account, the industrial possibilities for the creation of vernacular built environment will also be the key of the research. The possible outcomes are design proposals as well as an exploration of industrial production possibilities.
