1. To develop a new method for the synthesis of pyrroles from calcium carbide.
2. To convert carbide-derived acetylenic compounds into functional fluorophores. In this work 2-aryl pyrrole will be transformed into BODIPY; diarylethyne will be transformed into HPB; and PPE will be transformed into PPE-carbozole.
3. To fine tune resulting fluorophores into a good sensor for the detection of metal, protein and explosive compound.
