วัตถุประสงค์
:
An overall objective of this proposed research is to study the combined use of available science technologies in the fields of nanotechnology, cell encapsulation, and T cell based therapy for developing new and effective therapeutic strategies of cancer treatment. To achieve this goal, the specific aims of this project are:
1. Engineer cytotoxic T (CT) cells, CT capsules (CT cells coated with polyelectrolytes (PAH: poly(dially-dimethylammonium chloride; PSS: polystyrene sulfonate); cell encapsulation), and golden CT capsules ( CT cells coated with polyelectrolytes and PSS-coated gold nanorods (GNRs))
2. Explore the viability of prepared golden CT and CT capsules
3. Investigate the condition for specific target molecule-PSS-GNR conjugates to target cancer cells
4. Explore the mechanisms by which golden CT capsules interact with near infrared light (NIR) and examine the efficacy and selectivity of golden CT capsules for targeting and killing specific cancer cells
5. Compare the effect of golden CT capsules and CT capsules on cancer destruction
6. Investigate cytotoxic effect of CT and golden CT capsules on healthy cells
The outcome from all objectives will be summarized.
