Sub-project 1: Biological activities of plant crude extracts against insects, mites, plant microbes and their formulations.
1.1 To study the methods of extraction and effectiveness of crude extracts of selected wild plants against target pests which include cutworm larvae, fruit fly, aphids, mites.and plant microbs.
1.2 To formulate the products to be tested for their efficiencies against target pests under laboratory and field conditions.
Sub project 2: Impact of plant crude extracts on natural enemies.
2.1 To determine the efficiencies of some predatory mites in controlling spider mites (Tetranychus urticae and Eutetranychus africanus).
2.2 To evaluate strains of entomopathogenic fungi in controlling of lepidopterous larvae, aphids and mites through their rate of spore survival, methods of distribution and efficiency in specific formulations.
2.3 To investigate the effectiveness of fungal metabolites on cutworm larvae.
2.4 To evaluate the impact of selected plant crude extracts on the selected predators and entomopathogenic fungi.
Sub-project 3 Micronutrient contents, nutraceutical property and antimicrobial activity of tested plant species.
3.1 To determine the micronutrient contents in selected plant species.
3.2 To analyse nutraceutical properties in plant extracts.
3.3 To investigate the antimicrobial activity of plant extracts.
