To isolate, identify and characterize new and known compounds isolated from 21 fungi, including nine endophytic, three marine-derived and nine soil fungi as well as nine selected plants, Citrus hystrix, Garcinia cowa, G. merguensis, G. xanthochymus, Homalium tomentosum, Knema globularia, Mangifera foetida, Phoebe aff. declinata, and Premna cordifolia.
To evaluate the biological activities of natural products obtained, focusing on antibacterial (against SA and MRSA), antifungal (against MG, CA and CN) and antioxidant activities.
To isolate endophytic fungi from rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), screen them for their ability to produce bioactive substances against human and plant pathogens and identify the potential isolates having antimicrobial activity.
To screen the endophytic microorganisms capable of producing active compounds (antifungal/antibacteria/siderophore/phytohormones) for biocontrol and plant growth promotion, identify active compounds from selected endophytic microorganisms and evaluate antimicrobial and/or plant growth promoting and/or cytotoxic activities of the isolated compounds.
To isolate soil fungi from Kuan Kreng peatlands and mangroves in Nakhon Si Thammarat
province, screen antimicrobial activity of fungal culture filtrates and their extracts and identify the active fungi.
To synthesize both diastereomers of 5?-hydroxyzearalenone isolated from the seagrass-derived fungus Fusarium sp. PSU-ES73 in order to establish the absolute configuration of C-5?and to structurally modify its structure for enhancement of biological activities.
To study towards a chemical transformation of pesthetic acid, produced by the endophytic fungus Pestalotiopsis sp. PSU-MA69, to maldoxin.
