The main objective of this proposal is to develop a research program in conjunction with a young group of entomologists in Thailand to study various aspects of mosquitoes and stable flies on which we have very few information and knowledge
Objective of Subproject 1 (Dr.Theeraphap Chareonviriyaphap)
To investigate the active properties of synthetic and plant derived compounds for the control of mosquitoes
Objective of Subproject 2 (Dr.Jumnongjit Phasuk)
To evaluate the efficiency of attractants in sampling stable flies on dairy farms
Objective of Subproject-3 (Dr.Suprada Sukhonthabhirom)
To survey adult stable fly, population dynamic of the different species, evaluate the circadian activity of different species, and identify host sources
Ojective of Subproject-4 (Dr. Uraiwan Arunyawat)
To estimate level and pattern of genetic diversity of immune genes in the main malaria vectors (e.g. Anopheles dirus and An. minimus) in Thailand and to evaluate whether natural selection shapes pattern of molecular variation on the immune genes
Objective of Subproject-5 (Dr.Wannapa Suwondkerd)
To determine the mosquito behavior, biting pattern and their habitat in the selected areas
Objective of Subproject-6 (Dr. Monthathip Kongmee)
To investigate the Anopheles species and a seasonal abundance of dominant malaria vectors
Objective of Subproject-7 (Dr.Waraporn Juntarajumnong)
To develop P.vivax and P. falciparum cloning system for detection of both Plasmodium species in Anopheles mosquitoes.
Objective of Subproject-8 (Dr.Jinrapa Phothikasikorn)
To investigate vectorial ability of potential vectors susceptible to dengue and filarial disease in the villages and rubber plantation forest of Kanchanaburi province
