Comparison of bacteria population in intestines of black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) and Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) during normal farming conditions and after an exposure to Vibrio harveyi
This project focuses on two main objectives. The first objective is to compare bacteria composition in intestines of the black tiger shrimp and the Pacific white shrimp under a normal growth condition using 16S rRNA-based molecular technique. This part will provide a structure of bacteria community in the black tiger shrimp and the Pacific white shrimp that are reared under the same environment and nutrients. The second objective is to compare susceptibility to V. harveyi infection and how the infection alters bacteria populations in intestines of the black tiger shrimp and the Pacific white shrimp.
